I promised to answer more of your questions so here it goes:
Do I love Drew more than Lane??
Now that is a rumor that was probably started by Lane when he was 8 years old and which has now taken on a life of its own. The answer is of course not. Some would say I post more pictures of Drew but I can guarantee you that if someone (I can't imagine who??) counts them, it would be a virtual dead heat (sports reference).
Now it would be a lie if I did not say some days of course I love Drew more than Lane but then other days Lane comes out ahead. It truly does not matter how old your kids get or how long they have left the nest, this question is still one for the ages.
As a matter of fact, I was at a wedding recently (Lane and a lot of his friends were there) and one of his friends mentioned the blog (OMG people are reading!!) and how they knew I loved Drew more than Lane. Lane obviously put him up to it. I am beginning to think Lane is building a case to bribe me eventually.
Being an empty nester has caused me to reflect on so many things but never if I love Drew or Lane more than the other and honestly some days I love both of them more than Brad.
WILL THE BLOG STILL BE CALLED EMPTYNESTERSFINALLY WHEN DREW LIVES AT HOME?
This answer is a resounding yes. Brad and I put in a lot of time and effort in in choosing the name (my original choice was already taken) so Brad made me promise that he would never have to go through that again. Those "friends" of mine that think it makes me a fraud to use emptynestersfinally while Drew is home temporarily will have to grin and bear it (for less than a year.) I promise not to make you wear an emptynestersfinally.com t-shirt.
DO I (WE) GET NEGATIVE FEEDBACK?
Yes, we do. I know it is hard to believe but not everyone enjoys reading about our journey during this phase of our lives. But its a free world and everyone is entitled to their opinion and all I have to say is "Why are you still reading???"
Most importantly, I always said to my kids If you have nothing nice to say then don't say anything at all. But in my case if someone has a way to make my blog more interesting or more enjoyable. Bring it on. I am definitely open to all suggestions just be nice about it.
Does our family have any hidden talents?
As a matter of fact we all do. I can close my eyes and eat an M&M and tell you the color of the M&M. I have not eaten an M&M in about 27 years though (both Lane and Drew are allergic) so I am not confident I can still do this but Brad was definitely a witness to this feat.
Lane can balance a spoon
on his nose. See picture.
Brad can tie a cherry stem in his mouth. No picture but there are witnesses out there. Brad also makes fantastic guacamole.
And Drew makes incredible chicken tacos.
You can only imagine what our house is like on Taco Tuesday.
