Being an Empty Nester definitely has advantages but it also has its disadvantages as well. It is the 5 month anniversary of empty nesters finally which has chronicled my empty nester life so far ( if I only knew then what I know now.) It has been quite an adjustment being an empty nester (more than I care to admit) .
But Brad and I would have no problem (How naive could I have been.) But then came ……. ONE BORING DAY!
Let me set the scene. It was a Sunday. We had already had a busy Saturday so we were looking forward to taking it easy but, we did not take into consideration a couple of things (no football-lol).
First of all, I missed my exercise class (won't ever happen again - have a Peloton now) and Brad came home in a foul mood from his basketball game (that can easily happen again.) He said he played horrible and got pretty banged up. I can't write my reply (it's a PG13 blog.)
It was only 11:00 a.m. and we felt like the entire day was over. Not a great start.
We decided to be positive and not let any of that ruin our day. We would soldier on. But what were we going to do? Anything Brad mentioned, I was not in the mood for and vice a versa. Luckily, I Remembered I had made a Plan “B” list of activities for us to do on "boring" days.
By the time I found the list it was raining outside. And most of the "to do" stuff on the list was outdoor activities. UGH!
I was sooooo bored and it was only 12 p.m..
Of course, Brad suggested a nap which I negated right away. I reread the list carefully to find something to do before I went crazy. Then I got a tear in my eyes caused I realized if Lane and Drew were still home then we would be busy with them. We would never have been bored. Oh well. Guess we have more adjusting to do.
We miss our boys terribly!
Happy Empty Nesting!!
