EMPTY NESTERS TAKE A BACK SEAT WHILE THE BOYS ARE BACK IN THE NEST (FOR A LITTLE WHILE .....)

COLLEGE BOYS BACK, EMPTY NESTERS FINALLY

I know it’s been a long time (4 weeks or so) since I have blogged but please excuse me. I have been very busy with Lane and Drew (and Brad) and Winter Break.

I just finished doing three months of laundry for my boys (apparently they don't need clean clothes in college.) They both had extremely good reasons why they brought home their whole wardrobe so it was my pleasure plus I am a sucker for a hug and a kiss from them.

It was so much fun to have them home, except for them coming home very late but in all fairness they don’t go out until Brad and I are almost asleep.

Some of you might scoff but those of you that are empty nesters know how much joy it brings us to know that they still need us and most importantly want us to be a part of their life and I don’t mean just doing laundry.

Even as they grow up and become more and more independent Brad and I feel it is so important to stay attuned to their lives, friends, and their goals.

Them becoming more independent have not been easy for Brad or me. My boys have asthma and severe allergies and I spent a lot of time in doctors office and waking up in the middle of the night to do their treatments. But fortunately all of us became more knowledgeable about their issues and how to deal with them. So I can’t tell you how proud I was of Lane when he told me he made an appointment with his allergist in school without me begging him too. And he went too!

I did not mean this post to be serious but I guess sometimes being serious is important too. I promise next blog will have you holding your side you were laughing so much.

Happy Empty Nesting!!
